On December 6, 1993, at about 6:45 AM, a custodian found a 3lb 10oz baby boy wrapped in a towel in the lobby of the 40th Avenue post office. The boy was taken to Forrest General Hospital, where he died later that day due to hypothermia and exposure. He became known as Baby Boy Blue. Postal workers raised about $700 to pay for a headstone, Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home donated a casket, and Roseland Park Cemetery donated a grave site.[1] There is a plaque in his memory in the lobby of the post office.
