Lake Forgetful was a man-made lake built by Leon Eubanks, an English professor at USM, in the 1950's just west of Hattiesburg along Highway 98. According to some the name of the lake comes from Eubanks' sentiment that the lake was a place to "forget all your troubles." In 2000 the land was donated to USM.[1]
