Peggy Sealy was the police chief of Hattiesburg from August 17, 2021 until she retired on January 31, 2024. She served as assistant police chief from December 2017 until December 2020, when the police chief at the time, Anthony Parker, retired, and she became the interim police chief. On August 17, 2021, the city council voted by a vote of 4-to-2 to approve her nomination as official police chief.[1] She was officially sworn in during a ceremony on October 21, 2021.[2] On December 14, 2023, she announced she would retire at the end of January 2024.[3]. Hardy Sims, the assistant chief, was named as her replacement.
