Cooney's Band?[edit]
The 1961 article about Hotel Hattiesburg ("Razing of old hotel brings back memories" by Wiley Allen Landrum, Hattiesburg American, May 29, 1961, pg 10) casually mentions this:
- May your ball room be crowded again with the youth of yesteryear, waltzing and fox trotting to the music of Cooney's Band.
My guess is that "Cooney's Band" is a reference to Cooney Vaughn, a member of the Mississippi Jook Band. Various sources mention Hotel Hattiesburg as being a possible location of the 1936 recordings. --LarryM 13:59, 7 September 2013 (EDT)
