Ed Barksdale was chief of the Hattiesburg fire department from 1937 to 1966.
Barksdale Ladder Truck[edit]
In 1939 the department purchased its first ladder truck for $15,000. The truck later became known as the Barksdale Ladder Truck, and on October 1, 2024, officials held a ceremony unveiling the truck after being restored. [1][2]
