1983[edit]
- p 334-335 -- 12 inches of rain fell on Wednesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 7. Caused $129 million in damages (not sure if this means in Hattiesburg or in the whole state)

- A new crosswalk light was added at Hardy Street and 38th Avenue. The light was a used one that came from somewhere downtown.

- UAC rented Avanti Theater and called it Reel to Reel. Before that it seems they showed movies in Bennett Auditorium.

- Feb 5 was groundbreaking for the expansion to the USM library

- The Fraizer Museum closed
