Talk:Dr. Stevens
This gets weirder and wierder. On page 403 of HoFC it says that Captain Ben Stevens had several sons, one of them named John Morgan Stevens, but it says that he became a supreme court of Mississippi justice, NOT a doctor. It says he only had 1 son become a doctor, a Joseph Johnson Stevens. The article the book had was taken from some Stevens family something or other, and it says that "he (J. J. Stevens) was much loved by his family and friends and served as family physician for many of them." He married Mary Ethel Mounger in 1896.
This book has contradicted itself quite a bit by now. What do we believe? Maybe there were 3 or 4 Dr. Stevens?
The article on the Dolly Williamson page says "Dr. S. J. Stevens." History of Forrest County has that picture of the early doctors of Hattiesburg Hospital with a Dr. Stevens in it on page 462, but the caption under the picture says "J. F. Stevens." On page 98 of the same book it says that a Dr. John Stevens, son of Captain Ben Stevens of Augusta, opened an office in HBurg in 1891. I suppose it could all be the same guy. Maybe he's S. John F. Stevens or something.
