Conflicting info[edit]
The March 22, 1930 Hattiesburg American says "The Davidson Company was organized and opened for business here in March, 1906. ... Last November the Davidson Company moved into its new building at Front and Forrest streets..."
So I'm not sure how this jibes with the info in the article. I can't check the Hattiesburg American article from 2013 in the citation. --LarryM (talk) 14:47, 27 June 2019 (CST)
- An article in the Hattiesburg American from May 27, 1931 says "retirement of Mr. McLeod brings to a close one of the longest careers of any local business house. The company had occupied its building at Main and Pine streets since 1899, and a year prior to that time occupied another building on the same site. ... Mr. McLeod came to Hattiesburg more than 46 years ago to enter partnership in the J. ?. Turner and Company firm. This partnership continued for two years, when it was dissolved, the Turner firm continuing in business at Main and Front streets and Mr. McLeod establishing himself in business on the site of the present McLeod store." I'm starting to think the wiki article is confusing multiple stores. --LarryM (talk) 15:06, 27 June 2019 (CST)
- J.C. Penney had a fire in the 1940s. There's an ad in the September 7, 1945 edition of the Hattiesburg American says the Penneys moved into a temporary store at "The Davidson Building" at the corner of Front and Forrest streets. There's an ad in the May 23, 1933 Hattiesburg American that says the Davidson Mullinnix store is at the corner of Main and Pine streets. It seems like the Davidson Building was at the corner of Front and Forrest streets, then in the early 30s it moved. --LarryM (talk) 14:57, 28 June 2019 (CST)
